ABOUT
Tai Chi Ch'uan is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. As a result, multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims. Some training forms are especially known for being practiced at what most people catergorize as slow movement. Today, tai chi ch'uan has spread worldwide. Most modern styles of tai chi ch'uan trace their development to at least one of the five traditional schools: Chen, Yang, Wu (hao) Wu, and Sun.
The term Tai chi Chuan translates as " Supreme Ultimate fist", boundless fist, or great extremes boxing. The chi in this instance is the Wade-Giles transliteratin of the Pinyin ji, and its distict from qi (chi, life energy) The concept of the taiji in contrast with wuji (without ultimate), appears in both Taoist and Confucian Chinese philosophy, where it represents the fusion or mother of Yin and Yang into a singel ultimate, represented by the taitaichi symbol. Tai chi chuan theory and practice evolved in agreement with many chinese philosophical principles, including those of Taoism and Confucianism.Tai Chi has developed a worldwide following among people with little or no interest in martial training, for its benefit to health and health maintenance. Medical studies of tai chi support its effectiveness as an alternative exercise and a form of martial arts therapy.

I see people with illness and injury come to class and see how they heal. This art is so beneficial. I have been been practicing the ancient Chinese form for more than 30 years, said his love affair with Tai Chi began at the age of 15. After having health issues as a child, he started looking into alternative methods of healing. With the practice of self-defense and meditation in movement, I discovered it was the perfect fit for me. This exercise has the oldest history – it’s been around for 5,000 years and it’s that way for a reason. “I see physics in every move we do. Keller said. “We’re teaching equilibrium and balance, but it also aids in joint recuperation and health.”Keller knows firsthand about the recovery methods of Tai Chi. A few weeks ago, he had hip replacement surgery. Now, he’s walking – a virtual feat.“I credit my recovery to this art,” he said... and i believe in his teaching.
